8 - al-Anfal

Chapter: 8, Verse: 7-8

Narrated from Jabir:

"I asked Abu Jafar Imam Baqir (عليه السلام), about the explanation of this verse in the saying of Allah,

"Allah desires to establish the truth by His words and to cut off the roots of the disbelievers." (8:7)

Abu Jafar Imam Baqir (عليه السلام) said, "The interpretation of it in the inner aspect is that Allah intends it – meaning that it’s something that Allah desires but has not yet executed.

As for His saying, "to establish the truth by His words" (8:7) – it means to establish the right of Aal-e-Muhammad (عليهم السلام).

Regarding His saying, "by His words" (8:7) – Imam (عليه السلام) said, “His words in the inner/hidden (batin) aspect is Imam Ali (عليه السلام) as He is word of Allah (Kalimat-Allah) in the inner meaning.

As for His saying, "And to cut off the roots of the disbelievers" (8:7) – they are the Banu Umayyah, they are the disbelievers whose roots Allah will cut off.

As for His saying, "So that He may establish the truth" (8:8) – it means to establish the right of Aal-e-Muhammad (عليهم السلام) when the Qaim (عليه السلام) rises.

As for His saying, "and to abolish falsehood" (8:8) – it means the Qaim (عليه السلام), for when He rises, He will abolish the falsehood of the Bani Umayyah. And that is the saying of Allah, "That He may establish the truth and to abolish falsehood, even if the evil doers dislike it." (8:8)

Chapter: 8, Verse: 11 - Purification of the hearts through Love of Imam Ali (as)

Narrated from Jabir from Abi Abdillah Imam Baqir (as):

"I asked Imam Baqir (as) about the Baatin (inner or secret meaning) of this verse,

"And he caused rain to descend on you from sky, to clean you with it and to remove from you the evil of Satan, to strengthen your hearts, and to establish your feet firmly." [8:11]

Imam (as) said, "The sky in the Baatin (inner or secret meaning) is the Prophet (saww), and the rain is Ali (as) and Allah (swt) made Imam Ali (as) from the Prophet (saww) and that is the saying of Allah (swt), "(descended) the rain to clean you with it" and that is Ali (as), Allah (swt) purifies the hearts of those who Love Him. And regarding the saying of Allah (swt), "And to remove from you the evil of Satan", The one who loves Ali (as), the evil is removed from him and his heart is strengthened. And the saying of Allah (swt), "And to strengthen your hearts and establish your feet firmly", verily that is Ali (as), the one who loves Ali (as), Allah (swt) strengthens his heart through Ali (as) and establishes him upon His Wilayat."

From Aba Jafar Imam Baqir (as), about the verse "Surely the worst of animals in Allah's sight are those who disbelieve, then they would not believe"(8:55)
