Narration 1:

From the Sermon of Imam Ali ibn Husain (عليه السلام) in Kufa:

ثُمَّ إِنَّ زَيْنَ الْعَابِدِينَ ع أَوْمَأَ إِلَى النَّاسِ أَنِ اسْكُتُوا فَسَكَتُوا فَقَامَ قَائِماً فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ وَ أَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ وَ ذَكَرَ النَّبِيَّ ص ثُمَّ صَلَّى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ مَنْ عَرَفَنِي فَقَدْ عَرَفَنِي وَ مَنْ لَمْ يَعْرِفْنِي فَأَنَا أُعَرِّفُهُ بِنَفْسِي أَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ع أَنَا ابْنُ مَنِ انْتُهِكَتْ حُرْمَتُهُ وَ سُلِبَتْ نِعْمَتُهُ وَ انْتُهِبَ مَالُهُ وَ سُبِيَ عِيَالُهُ أَنَا ابْنُ الْمَذْبُوحِ بِشَطِّ الْفُرَاتِ مِنْ غَيْرِ ذَحْلٍ وَ لَا تِرَاتٍ أَنَا ابْنُ مَنْ قُتِلَ صَبْراً وَ كَفَى بِذَلِكَ فَخْراً

Imam Zayn al-Abideen (عليه السلام) gestured to the people to be silent. When they were silent, he stood up, praised Allah and glorified Him. Then he mentioned the Prophet (ص) and send salutations upon Him and then He said,

"O people! Those who know me, know me, but for those who do not know me, I will introduce myself. I am Ali ibn al-Husayn ibn Ali ibn Abi Talib (عليهم السلام).

I am the son of the one whose sanctity/respect was violated, whose bounties were taken, whose possessions were plundered, and whose family was imprisoned. 

I am the son of the man who was slaughtered at the banks of the Euphrates [furat], without any reason of blood-revenge or blame.

I am the son of the one who was killed while he was stead-fast, and that is sufficient for me to be proud about."
