Narrated from Muawiya bin Wahb who said,
I asked permission to meet Imam Sadiq (عليه السلام). When I entered, I found him on his prayer mat in his house praying. I waited until he finished his prayers and then I heard him recite the following supplication:
"O Allah! O one who has chosen us for honor, promised us right of intercession, chosen us as successors, gave us the knowledge of the past and that which is to come and made the hearts of people inclined towards Us.
Forgive Me, my brothers & the visitors (zuwwar) of the grave of Imam Husain (عليه السلام) - those who spent their wealth, put their bodies through trouble (in going for Ziyarat) with the desire of doing good to Us, and in hope of the reward near You for staying connected with Us and for the happiness it will bring to Your Prophet (S), and in obeying Our commands and for the anger it causes to Our enemy. Through this they seek Your pleasure.
So be pleased with them on Our behalf, protect them night and day and safegaurd their families and children whom they have left behind in the best manner. Be their companion, be sufficient (protector) for them from the evil of every arrogant tyrant and every weak or strong one from Your creation, and from the eit of every devil from men or jinn.
Grant them the best of what they hope from You because of their remoteness from their homes and they giving Us preference over their own children, family & relatives.
"O Allah! Our enemies have criticized them for going to Our Ziyarat but that did not prevent them from coming to Us and going against Our opponents.
(O Allah) So have mercy on those faces changed by (heat of) the sun.
Have mercy on those cheeks which are overturned upon the grave of Abu Abd-Allah al-Husain (عليه السلام).
Have mercy on those eyes which shed tears having sympathy with Us.
Have mercy on those hearts which have become restless/anxious and feeling burned for Us.
And have mercy on those loud crying (screams) for Us.
O Allah! I entrust these souls and bodies to you till the day you quench their thirst at the pool of Kauthar on the day of great thirst."
Muawiyah Ibne Wahab (the narrator) said, The Imam (as) continued this supplication in prostration.
When he finished, I said, "May I be sacrificed on you. I think that if this supplication is in favor of even those who don’t know Allah (عز وجل), I think that Hellfire will not touch them! By Allah, I wish I had gone to the Ziyarat of Imam Husain (as), instead of going to Hajj."
Imam (عليه السلام) said, "You live so close. What prevents you from his Ziyarat? O Muawiyah! Don’t forsake it?"
I said, “May I be sacrificed on you! I did not think that it was so important and it had such great rewards."
Imam (عليه السلام) said, "Muawiyah, Those who pray for the visitors of Imam Husain (عليه السلام) in the heavens are more than those who pray for them on earth."
