Punishment for those not helping the Imam
Narrated that Amr bin Qays al-Mashraqi said,
"I and my cousin met al-Husain ibn Ali (عليه السلام) while He was at Qasr Banu Muqatil. We greeted Him and my cousin said to Him, “O Aba Abdillah (عليه السلام) this (blackness in the beard) that I see, is it dyed or your (natural) hair?"
Imam (عليه السلام) replied, "It is dye, gray hair comes to us the Bani Hashim quickly."
The Imam (عليه السلام) then said, "Have you two come to help Me?"
I (the narrator) replied, "I am an old man, having lot of debt and many family-members/dependents. I have with me goods of other people and I don’t know what is going to happen, and I dislike that I lose out on these trusts (Amanah) that are with me." And my cousin also said something similar.
The Imam (عليه السلام) then said, "Then go away, so that you two do not hear My cries (for help) and do not see Me in difficulties. Because if someone hears our call (for help) and sees Us in difficulties and yet does not respond to Us and does not support Us, then its necessary/appropriate upon Allah (عز وجل) to throw him upon his nose into the fire."
