وَ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ الصَّفَّارِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ بْنِ حَسَّانَ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) مَا يُقَالُ إِنَّ زِيَارَةَ قَبْرِ الْحُسَيْنِ (ع) تَعْدِلُ حِجَّةً وَ عُمْرَةً قَالَ فَقَالَ إِنَّمَا الْحَجُّ وَ الْعُمْرَةُ هَاهُنَا وَ لَوْ أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَرَادَ الْحَجَّ وَ لَمْ يَتَهَيَّأْ لَهُ فَأَتَاهُ كَتَبَ اللَّهُ لَهُ حِجَّةً وَ لَوْ أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَرَادَ الْعُمْرَةَ وَ لَمْ يَتَهَيَّأْ لَهُ كُتِبَتْ لَهُ عُمْرَةٌ

Imam Sadiq (as) was asked, "What does it, mean when it is said that Ziyarat of Imam Husain (as) is equal to a Hajj and an Umrah?"

Imam (as) replied, "Indeed Hajj and Umrah can only be performed here (in Makkah). But if one intends to perform Hajj but does not have the means to do so and goes to Imam Husain (as) instead, Allah will record a Hajj for him. Similarly, if someone decides to perform an Umrah, but does not have the means to do so and goes to Imam Husain (as) instead, an Umrah will be recorded for him.

حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ الصَّفَّارِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْقَمَّاطِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي يَعْفُورٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) يَقُولُ لَوْ أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَرَادَ الْحَجَّ وَ لَمْ يَتَهَيَّأْ لَهُ ذَلِكَ فَأَتَى قَبْرَ الْحُسَيْنِ (ع) فَعَرَّفَ عِنْدَهُ يُجْزِيهِ ذَلِكَ عَنِ الْحَجِّ

Imam Sadiq (as) said: "If one intends to go for Hajj, but does not have the means to do so and goes to the Ziyarat of Imam Husain (a.s.) instead and spends Arafah Day at his grave, his Ziyarat will be considered as equivalent to Hajj.

وَ بِإِسْنَادِهِ عَنْ يُونُسَ عَنِ الرِّضَا (ع) قَالَ مَنْ زَارَ قَبْرَ الْحُسَيْنِ (ع) فَقَدْ حَجَّ وَ اعْتَمَرَ قَالَ قُلْتُ يَطْرَحُ عَنْهُ حِجَّةَ الْإِسْلَامِ قَالَ لَا هِيَ حِجَّةُ الضَّعِيفِ حَتَّى يَقْوَى- وَ يَحُجَّ إِلَى بَيْتِ اللَّهِ الْحَرَامِ

Imam Reza (as) said: "One who performs the Ziyarat of Imam Husain (as) has performed a Hajj and an Umrah.

I (the narrator) asked, “Does it replace Hajj of Islam?”

Imam (as) replied: No, it is recorded as Hajj for one who does not have the means of going to Hajj until the means become available to him to perform Hajj of the sacred house of Allah"

وَ عَنْهُ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مَعْمَرٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِنَا قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع إِنَّ فُلَاناً أَخْبَرَنِي أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَكَ إِنِّي حَجَجْتُ تِسْعَ عَشْرَةَ حَجَّةً وَ تِسْعَ عَشْرَةَ عُمْرَةً فَقُلْتَ لَهُ حُجَّ حَجَّةً أُخْرَى وَ اعْتَمِرْ عُمْرَةً أُخْرَى يُكْتَبْ لَكَ زِيَارَةُ قَبْرِ الْحُسَيْنِ ع فَقَالَ أَيُّمَا أَحَبُّ إِلَيْكَ أَنْ تَحُجَّ عِشْرِينَ حَجَّةً وَ تَعْتَمِرَ عِشْرِينَ عُمْرَةً أَوْ تُحْشَرَ مَعَ الْحُسَيْنِ ع فَقُلْتُ لَا بَلْ أُحْشَرُ مَعَ الْحُسَيْنِ ع قَالَ فَزُرْ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ

The narrator said, I said to Imam Jafar Sadiq (as) that someone informed me that he said to You;

"I have done 19 Hajj and 19 Umrah, so You replied to him saying, "do one more Hajj and one more Umrah so that a Ziyarat of the grave of Imam Husain (as) will be written for you"

Then Imam Sadiq (as) then said (to the narrator), "what is more beloved to you, doing 20 Hajj and 20 Umrah or you being gathered with Imam Husain (aa) on the day of Judgement?"

I (the narrator) replied, "Me being gathered with Imam Husain (as) on the day of Judgement"

Imam Sadiq (as) then said, "Then go for Ziyarat of Imam Husain (as)"
