Imam Ali (as) is Salat

*The below narrations in no way indicate the belief in Imam Ali (as) is sufficient and that there is no need to offer Salat.

Narrated from Abdul Rahman bin Kaseer:

Imam Jafar Sadiq (as) said regarding the verse of Quran;

"Guard strictly your (habit of) prayers, especially the Middle Prayer; and stand before Allah in a devout" [2:238]

"Prayers" is (refers to) the Prophet (saww), Amir Al Momineen (as), Fatima (sa), Hasan (as) and Husain (as). And the "Middle Prayer" is (refers to) Amir Al Momineen (as). And "Stand before Allah in devout" is obedient to the Imam's (as).

Ali ibn Muhammad from Sahl ibn Ziyad from ’Isma‘il ibn Mihran from al-Hassan al-Qummi from Idris ibn ‘Abd Allah who has said the following.

"I asked abu ‘Abd Allah (as) about the interpretation of this verse of the Holy Quran. ‘What has lead you to Saqar (a place in hell)? They will reply, "We did not pray.’" [74:43]

The Imam (as) said, "Such people will be those who did not believe in the Imams (as) about whom Allah, the Most Holy, the Most High, has said, "The foremost ones will be the nearest ones to Allah" [56:11] Have you not noticed that people call the one second to the lead in horse racing ‘al-Musalli’ (the praying)? This is what is meant therein. " ‘We did not pray’ means "we did not follow the lead.’"

Ali ibn Muhammad has narrated from certain persons of our people from ibn Mahbub from Muhammad ibn al-Fudayl who has said the following.

"I asked abu al-Hassan (as) about the words of Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Gracious"

I then read the words of Allah, ". . . We did not pray," [74:43]

The Imam (AS) said, "It refers to their saying, "We did not believe in Walaya of Ali (as) and the Imams after him and would not offer the special greeting for them."

Fazl bin Shazan narrates from Dawood bin Kaseer who said,

I asked Aba Abdillah (as), "Are you Salaat in the book of Allah (swt) and are you Zakaat and are you Hajj?

Imam (as) said, "O'Dawood, We are Salaat in the book of of Allah (swt) and We are Zakaat and We are Siyaam (fast), and We are Hajj and We are the Sacred Month (Shahr Al-Haram) and We are the Sacred Country (Bald Al-Haram) and We are Ka'ba-tu-Allah and We are Qibla-tu-Allah and We are Fajh-ul-Allah (Face of Allah), Allah (swt) says, "Whereever you turn, there is the Face of Allah (swt)"[Quran 2:115]. And we are the Signs (Aayat) and We are the Evidence (Bayyenaat)..
