Narrations on the importance of the remembering and talking about the AhlulBait (as) and that the Zikr of AhlulBait (عليه السلام) is the Zikr of Allah (عز و جل)

Hadith 1:

وبهذا الاسناد، عن أبان بن عثمان، عن إسماعيل البصري قال: سمعت أبا عبد الله (عليه السلام) يقول: تقعدون في المكان فتحدثون وتقولون ما شئتم وتتبرؤون ممن شئتم وتولون من شئتم؟ قلت: نعم، قال: وهل العيش إلا هكذا

Narrated from Aban bin Usman, from Ismail al-Basari who said, I heard Aba Abdillah Imam Saiq (عليه السلام) saying:

"Do you sit in a place and narrate Ahadith and say whatever you like and do tabarra from whomever you like and to tawalla (befriend) from whomever you like? 

I (the narrator) said, 'Yes'. 

Imam (عليه السلام) said, "Is living anything but this?".

Hadith 2:

عدة من أصحابنا، عن أحمد بن محمد بن خالد، عن أبيه، عن فضالة بن أيوب عن علي بن أبي حمزة قال: سمعت أبا عبدالله عليه السلام يقول: شيعتنا الرحمآء بينهم، الذين إذا خلوا ذكرواالله [إن ذكرنا من ذكر الله] إنا إذا ذكرنا ذكر الله وإذا ذكر عدو ناذ كر الشيطان

A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid from his father from Fadalah ibn Ayyub from Ali ibn abu Hamza who has said the following:

"I heard Abu Abdillah (عليه السلام) saying, "Our Shia are compassionate to each other. When they are alone they speak of and remember Allah. To speak of us is to speak of Allah. When we are mentioned Allah is mentioned, but when our enemies are spoken of it is like speaking of Satan."

Hadith 3:

حمد بن يحيى، عن محمد بن الحسين، عن محمد بن إسماعيل بن بزيع، عن صالح بن عقبة، عن يزيد بن عبدالملك، عن أبي عبدالله عليه السلام قال: تزاوروا فإن في زيارتكم إحياء لقلوبكم وذكرا لاحاديثنا، وأحاديثنا تعطف بعضكم على بعض(2) فإن أخذتم بهار شدتم ونجوتم وإن تركتموها ضللتم وهلكتم، فخذوا بها و أنا بنجاتكم زعيم

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Muhammad ibn al-Husayn from Muhammad ibn Ismail ibn Bazi from Salih ibn ‘Aqabah from Yazid ibn ‘Abd al-Malik from Abu AbdiAllah (عليه السلام), who said,

"Visit each other, verily in it there is a revival for your hearts and a mention/rememberance (Zikr) of our Ahadith. Our Ahadith makes you to be kind to each other. If you accept them you will become firm & you will be saved. If you disregard them you will go astray and be destroyed. Therefore, hold on to them and I assure you of your salvation."

Hadith 4:

عدة من أصحابنا، عن سهل بن زياد، عن الوشاء، عن منصور بن يونس عن عباد بن كثير قال: قلت لابي عبدالله عليه السلام: إني مررت بقاص يقص وهو يقول: هذا المجلس [الذي] لا يشقى به جليس، قال: فقال أبوعبدالله عليه السلام: هيهات هيهات، أخطأت(4) أستاههم الحفرة، إن لله ملائكة سياحين، سوى الكرام الكاتبين، فإذا مروا بقوم ذكرون محمدا وآل محمد قالوا: قفوا فقد أصبتم حاجتكم، فيجلسون، فيتفقهون معهم فإذا قاموا عادوا مرضا هم وشهدوا جنائزهم وتعاهدوا غائبهم، فذلك المجلس الذي لا يشقى به جليس

A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from al-Washsha from Mansur ibn Yunus from Abbad ibn Kathir who has said the following: 

"I said to Abu Abdillah (عليه السلام), "Once I passed by a storyteller who said to his audience, "This is a gathering whose attendants do not suffer wickedness." 

The narrator has said that Abu Abdillah (عليه السلام), then said, "How extremely far is it from reality! Indeed Allah has certain angels who visit places, and they are other than the honorable scribes. When they pass by a people, who speak of Muhammad and Ale Muhammad (عليهم السلام), these angels say, "Stop here. You have found what you needed." They will sit down and begin to think and understand with them. When the gathering disperses they visit their people suffering due to ill health, attend their funerals, and look after those of them who are absent. That is the gathering whose attendants do not suffer wickedness."

Hadith 5:

محمد بن يحيى، عن أحمد بن محمد بن عيسى، عن علي بن الحكم، عن المستورد النخعي، عمن رواه، عن أبي عبدالله عليه السلام قال ; إن من الملائكة الذين في السماء ليطلعون إلى الواحد والاثنين والثلاثة وهم يذكرون فضل آل محمد قال: فتقول: أما ترون إلى هؤلاء في قلتهم وكثرة عدو هم يصفون فضل آل محمد صلى الله عليه وآله؟ قال: فتقول الطائفة الاخرى من الملائكة: ذلك فضل الله يؤتيه من يشاء والله ذوالفضل العظيم

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Isa from Ali ibn al-Hakam from al-Mustawrid al-Nakhai from those whom he has mentioned (in his book) from Abu Abdillah (عليه السلام), who has said the following:

"Certain angels of heaven look at one, two or three people on earth speak of the excellence and praise of Aal-e-Muhammad (عليهم السلام) and they say, "Look the small number of these people, their enemies so numerous, they still speak of the praise of Aal-e-Muhammad (عليهم السلام)." 

The Imam then said, "Another group of angels says to them, "It is a favor to them from Allah that He grants to whomever He wants, Allah is the possessor of the great favors."

Hadith 6:

عن سعد الإسكاف، قال: قلت لأبي جعفر ع : إني أجلس فأقص وأذكر حقكم وفضلكم. قال: وددت أن على كل ثلاثين ذراعا قاصا مثلك

Narrated by S'ad al-Iskaaf, I said to Abu Jafar Imam Baqir (عليه السلام), "I sit and then narrate and remember Your rights (Haqq) and Your merits (Fadhl)."

Imam (عليه السلام) said, I wish that there are such narrators like you at every 30 cubits (unit of measurement)"

Hadith 7:

عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ شُعَيْبٍ الْعَقَرْقُوفِيِّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) يَقُولُ لأصْحَابِهِ اتَّقُوا الله وَكُونُوا إِخْوَةً بَرَرَةً مُتَحَابِّينَ فِي الله مُتَوَاصِلِينَ مُتَرَاحِمِينَ تَزَاوَرُوا وَتَلاقَوْا وَتَذَاكَرُوا أَمْرَنَا وَأَحْيُوهُ

Imam Sadiq (عليه السلام) said to His companions,

"Fear Allah (piety) and be righteous brothers loving each other for the sake of Allah, interconnecting with each other, loving/respecting each other. Visit each other, meet each other and remind/revive each other about our matters (Amr) and enliven/revive it."

Hadith 8:

أَبِي (رحمه الله) عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) قَالَ مَنْ ذَكَرَ اللَّهَ كُتِبَتْ لَهُ عَشْرُ حَسَنَاتٍ وَ مَنْ ذَكَرَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ (ص) كُتِبَتْ لَهُ عَشْرُ حَسَنَاتٍ لِأَنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى قَرَنَ رَسُولَهُ بِنَفْسِهِ

Narrated that Abu Abdillah Imam Sadiq (عليه السلام) said,

"Whoever mentions/remembers (zekr) Allah, ten good deeds are written for him, and whoever mentions/remembers (zekr) the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله) ten good deeds are written for him, because Allah (تعالى) has has associated His Messenger with Himself."

Hadith 9:

حُمَيْدُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَمَاعَةَ عَنْ وُهَيْبِ بْنِ حَفْصٍ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ مَا اجْتَمَعَ فِي مَجْلِسٍ قَوْمٌ لَمْ يَذْكُرُوا الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرُونَا إِلا كَانَ ذَلِكَ الْمَجْلِسُ حَسْرَةً عَلَيْهِمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ثُمَّ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) إِنَّ ذِكْرَنَا مِنْ ذِكْرِ الله وَذِكْرِ عَدُوِّنَا مِنْ ذِكْرِ الشَّيْطَانِ.

Narrated that Abu Abd-Allah Imam Sadiq (عليه السلام) said,

"No people gather in an gathering/assembly and do not remember/mention (Zekr) Allah (عز وجل) and do not remember/mention Us, then that gathering would become a regret for them on the day of Judgement."

The Imam then said, Abu Jafar Imam Baqir (عليه السلام) has said, "Indeed Remembering (speaking about) Us is remembering Allah (عز وجل) and remembering Our enemies is remembering Satan."

Hadith 10:

مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عُقْبَةَ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبَانٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ الْوَابِشِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عليه السلام) قَالَ قُلْتُ لَهُ إِنَّ لَنَا جَاراً يَنْتَهِكُ الْمَحَارِمَ كُلَّهَا حَتَّى إِنَّهُ لَيَتْرُكُ الصَّلَاةَ فَضْلًا عَنْ غَيْرِهَا فَقَالَ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَ أَعْظَمَ ذَلِكَ أَ لَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِمَنْ هُوَ شَرٌّ مِنْهُ قُلْتُ بَلَى قَالَ النَّاصِبُ لَنَا شَرٌّ مِنْهُ أَمَا إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِنْ عَبْدٍ يُذْكَرُ عِنْدَهُ أَهْلُ الْبَيْتِ فَيَرِقُّ لِذِكْرِنَا إِلَّا مَسَحَتِ الْمَلَائِكَةُ ظَهْرَهُ وَ غُفِرَ لَهُ ذُنُوبُهُ كُلُّهَا إِلَّا أَنْ يَجِي‏ءَ بِذَنْبٍ يُخْرِجُهُ مِنَ الْإِيمَانِ وَ إِنَّ الشَّفَاعَةَ لَمَقْبُولَةٌ وَ مَا تُقُبِّلَ فِي نَاصِبٍ وَ إِنَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ لَيَشْفَعُ لِجَارِهِ وَ مَا لَهُ حَسَنَةٌ فَيَقُولُ يَا رَبِّ جَارِي كَانَ يَكُفُّ عَنِّي الْأَذَى فَيُشَفَّعُ فِيهِ فَيَقُولُ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَ تَعَالَى أَنَا رَبُّكَ وَ أَنَا أَحَقُّ مَنْ كَافَى عَنْكَ فَيُدْخِلُهُ الْجَنَّةَ وَ مَا لَهُ مِنْ حَسَنَةٍ وَ إِنَّ أَدْنَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ شَفَاعَةً لَيَشْفَعُ لِثَلَاثِينَ إِنْسَاناً فَعِنْدَ ذَلِكَ يَقُولُ أَهْلُ النَّارِ فَما لَنا مِنْ شافِعِينَ وَ لا صَدِيقٍ حَمِيمٍ.

Narrated from Abd al-Hameed al-Wabishy:

I said to Abu Jafar Imam Baqir (عليه السلام),

"We have a neighbour who violates all the Prohibitions to the extent that he leaves the Prayer as well among other matters."

Imam (عليه السلام) said, "Subhan-Allah, that is so great. Shall I not inform you of the one who is more evil than him?"

I (the narrator) said, "Yes".

Imam (عليه السلام) said, "The Nasibi (who has enmity with the AhlulBayt and their Shia) is more evil than him.

But rather, there is none from the servant in whose presence the AhlulBayt (عليهم السلام) are mentioned/remembered (Zekr) and he sympathises with Our remembrance, except that the Angels wipe his back, and all of his sins are Forgiven unless he commits a sin which takes him out of the faith (Eeman), and his intercession is Accepted whilst it is not acceptable for the Nasibi.

And that the Believer will intercede for his neighbour even if he has no good deed. He will say, "O Lord ! My neighbour used to prevent harms from me", so he will intercede for him.

So Allah (تبارك و تعالى) will say, "I am your Lord and more Right to Suffice for you. So He Allah will enter him in the Paradise although he did not have any good deeds. And that the lowest of the Momineen (Believers) would intercede for thirty people. When that happens, the inhabitants of the Fire will say, "So we have no intercessors, Nor a true friend." (26:100-101)

Hadith 11:

 عَنْهُ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنِ ابْنِ مُسْكَانَ عَنْ مُيَسِّرٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ قَالَ لِي أَ تَخْلُونَ وَتَتَحَدَّثُونَ وَتَقُولُونَ مَا شِئْتُمْ فَقُلْتُ إِي وَالله إِنَّا لَنَخْلُو وَنَتَحَدَّثُ وَنَقُولُ مَا شِئْنَا فَقَالَ أَمَا وَالله لَوَدِدْتُ أَنِّي مَعَكُمْ فِي بَعْضِ تِلْكَ الْمَوَاطِنِ أَمَا وَالله إِنِّي لأحِبُّ رِيحَكُمْ وَأَرْوَاحَكُمْ وَإِنَّكُمْ عَلَى دِينِ الله وَدِينِ مَلائِكَتِهِ فَأَعِينُوا بِوَرَعٍ وَاجْتِهَادٍ

Narrated from Muyassir that Abu Jafar Imam Baqir (عليه السلام) said,

"Do you go into seclusion (private gatherings), talk and say whatever you want?" 

So I (the narrator) said, "Yes, by Allah, we go into seclusion, talk, and say whatever we want." 

The Imam said, "By Allah, I wish I could be with you in some of those situations/gatherings. By Allah, I love your scent/fragrance and your souls, and indeed you are upon the religion of Allah and the religion of His angels. So help (yourselves) with piety and by striving hard."

Allamah Majlisi comments on this hadith saying:

« ما شئتم » أي من فضائلنا أو ذم أعادينا ولعنهم ورواية أحاديثنا من غير تقية

"Say whatever you want - it means saying Our virtues/merits (Fadail) or criticizing (Damm) Our enemies and cursing them and narrating our hadiths without taqiyyah"

Hadith 12:

حدّثني أبي إبراهيم بن موسى ، قال : حدّثني أبي موسى بن جعفر ، قال : حدّثني أبي جعفر بن محمّد ، قال : حدّثني أبي محمّد بن علي ، قال : حدّثني أبي علي بن الحسين ، قال حدّثني أبي الحسين بن علي ، قال : حدّثنا جابر بن عبدالله الأنصاري قال : قال رسول الله صلى‌الله‌عليه‌وآله : زيّنوا مجالسكم بذكر علي بن أبي طالب عليه‌السلام 

Narrated from Imam Musa ibn Jafar (عليه السلام), 

from Imam Jafar bin Muhammad (عليه السلام),

from Imam Muhammad bin Ali (عليه السلام),

from Imam Ali ibn Husayn (عليه السلام),

from Imam Husayn ibn Ali (عليه السلام),

from Jabir ibn Abd-Allah al-Ansari that

Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وآله) said,

"Adorn your gatherings (majalis) through the remembrance (zekr) of Ali ibn Abi Talib (عليه السلام)"

Hadith 13:

أخبرنا محمد بن محمد، قال: أخبرني أبو القاسم جعفر بن محمد، قال: حدثني القاسم بن محمد، عن علي بن إبراهيم، عن أبيه، عن جده، عن عبد الله ابن حماد الأنصاري، عن جميل بن دراج، عن معتب مولى أبي عبد الله (عليه السلام)، قال: سمعته يقول لداود بن سرحان: يا داود، أبلغ موالي عني السلام، وأني أقول: رحم الله عبدا اجتمع مع اخر فتذاكرا أمرنا، فإن ثالثهما ملك يستغفر لهما، وما اجتمع اثنان على ذكرنا إلا باهى الله (تعالى) بهما الملائكة، فإذا اجتمعتم فاشتغلوا بالذكر، فإن في اجتماعكم ومذاكرتكم إحياءنا، وخير الناس من بعدنا من ذاكر بأمرنا ودعا إلى ذكرنا

Narrated that Abu Abd-Allah Imam Sadiq (عليه السلام) said to Dawud bin Sarhan

"O Dawud, Convey my Salaam to my followers and tell them that I said:

"May Allah have mercy on any two slaves who meet and mention/remember (zekr) Our affairs. When any two slaves mention our affairs, the third person in their gathering will be an angel who seeks forgiveness for them.

And no two people gether together in remembering Us but that Allah (تعالى) boasts to the angels about them.

So when you gather, be occupied with (our) remembrance, because in your gathering and remembrance (zekr) is Our revival.

And the best people after Us are those who remember/mention (zekr) Our matter and call to Our remembrance (zekr).
