Part of a lengthy narration,
Muhammad bin Muslim said to Imam Baqir (عليه السلام), "May I be sacrificed for you," I am crying over my separation, and the great distance from Your place, and the lack of ability to stay with You and see You.
Imam Baqir (عليه السلام) replied:
"As for the lack of ability, that is what Allah has made Our friends and those who love Us and Allah has made calamities moving quickly towards them."
"And as for what you mentioned of separation/loneliness (ghurbah), indeed the believer in this world is a stranger, amidst this deviated creation, until he departs from this world to the mercy of Allah."
"And as for what you mentioned about being away from Us, then you have Abu Abd-Allah Imam Husain (عليه السلام) as an example, in a land far away from Us, near the Euphrates."
"And as for what you mentioned of your love for Our nearness and looking at Us, and that you are unable to do so, Allah knows what is in your heart, and He will reward you for it."
