Verse & Hadith of Ghadeer in book of Sunni's

1) Tafseer Durr al-Mansoor, Vol. 6, Pg. 383 - Online Link

وَأخرج ابْن مرْدَوَيْه عَن ابْن مَسْعُود قَالَ: كُنَّا نَقْرَأ على عهد رَسُول الله صلى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسلم {يَا أَيهَا الرَّسُول بلغ مَا أنزل إِلَيْك من رَبك} أَن عليا مولى الْمُؤمنِينَ {وَإِن لم تفعل فَمَا بلغت رسَالَته وَالله يَعْصِمك من النَّاس}

From Ibn Masood who said,

"We used to recite in the times of the Prophet (S) like this, {"O Messenger, announce that which has been revealed to You from Your Lord"}, 'That Ali is the Mawla (leader/chief) of the believers', {"If You do not do it then You have not Conveyed His message and Allah will protect You from the people" }(5:67)

2) Asbaab al-Nuzul, al-Wahidi, Pg. 150 - Online Link

From Abi Saeed al-Khudri, who said,

"The verse 'O Messenger, announce that which has been revealed to You from Your Lord' (5:67) was revealed on the Day of Ghadeer Khum in regards to Ali ibn Abi Talib"

3) Tafseer-e-Kabeer, Vol. 12, Pg. 49 - Online Link

Under the verse 5:67, It says:

Tenth: "This verse was revealed in the merit of Ali ibn Abi Talib (as). When this verse was revealed, Prophet Mohammad (saww) took the hand of Ali (as) and said, 'WHOEVER I AM HIS MASTER, ALI IS HIS MASTER. O Allah! Love those who love him. Be hostile to those who are hostile to him."

4) Tafseer Gharaib al-Quran Wa Ragaib al-Furqan - al-Nesapoori, Vol. 2, Pg. 616 - Online Link

From Abi Saeed al-Khudri, who said,

This verse was revealed in the merit of Ali ibn Abi Talib (as). When this verse was revealed, Prophet Mohammad (saww) took the hand of Ali (as) and said, 'WHOEVER I AM HIS MASTER, ALI IS HIS MASTER. O Allah! Love those who love him. Be hostile to those who are hostile to him."

Umar then said, "Congratulation to you to son of Abi Talib, You have become my Maula and the Maula of all the believers male and female".

1) Wives of the Prophet (saww) not included in the AhlulBayt (as) :-

2) Holy Prophet (saww) left behind Qur'an and AhlulBayt (as) :-

3) A'isha was jealous of Khadija - the wife of the Prophet (saww) :-

4) Only Ali (as) is Siddiq al-Akbar :-

"'Ali said: 'I am the slave of Allah and the brother of His Messenger. I am the greatest teller of the truth (Siddiq Akbar), and no one will say this after me except a liar. I prayed seven years before the people."

5) Abu Bakr and Umar raise their voice above the voice of the Prophet (saww) :-

The two righteous persons were about to be ruined. They were Abu Bakr and Umar who raised their voices in the presence of the Prophet when a mission from Bani Tamim came to him. One of the two recommended Al-Aqra' bin Habeas, the brother of Bani Mujashi (to be their governor) while the other recommended somebody else. (Nafi`, the sub-narrator said, I do not remember his name). Abu Bakr said to `Umar, "You wanted nothing but to oppose me!" `Umar said, "I did not intend to oppose you." Their voices grew loud in that argument, so Allah revealed: 'O you who believe! Raise not your voices above the voice of the Prophet.' (49.2) Ibn Az-Zubair said, "Since the revelation of this Verse, `Umar used to speak in such a low tone that the Prophet had to ask him to repeat his statements." But Ibn Az-Zubair did not mention the same about his (maternal) grandfather (i.e. Abu Bakr).

6) Fatimah Zahra (sa) became angry & did not talk to Abu Bakr and Umar until she died :-

Narrated Abu Hurairah:

That Fatimah came to Abu Bakr and 'Umar, to ask them about her inheritance from the Messenger of Allah. They said: "We heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'I am not inherited from.'" So she said: 'By Allah! I will never talk to you two again.' So she died having not talked to them."

(Grading of the Hadith is 'Hasan')

7) Umar got fire wood to the house of Fatema so as to Burn it:

Ahmad ibn Yahya, famous as Balaadhari in his book 'Ansaab al-Ashraaf' quotes the following:

Abu Bakr sent some people to get allegiance (Bayyah) from Ali (as) and He did not do Bayyah. So Umar came along with fire wood and Fatema (sa) came to him at the door and Fatema (sa) said to him, "O Son of Khattab, Am I seeing you set fire at my door? Umar replied, "Yes, and on that I am firm then the religion with which Your Father came."

8) Sunni Scholar testifies that, Imam Ali (as) is the Imam after the Prophet and Umar hit Fatema (sa):

Salahuddin Khaleel ibn Aibak Safdi in his book “Al-Waafi bil Wafayaat” under the section of Ibraheem ibn Sayyar Nazzaam Motazeli writes:

Nazzam Motazeli says, "The Prophet (saww) dictated/stipulated that Imam Ali (as) was the Imam and appointed him and the companions (Sahabah) were aware of this. But Umar suppressed it for Abu Bakr."

And Nazzam Motazeli says, "Verily Umar hit the abdomen of Fatema (sa) on the day of Bayyah such that Mohassin was miscarried in her abdomen."

9) Umar having intercourse with women during mensuration period:

Umar bin al-Khatab had a slave girl who used to hate men. Whenever Umar wanted to have sexual intercourse with her, she apologized by advancing an excuse that she was having a period, hence Umar thought that she was telling lie, then (when he had sexual intercourse with her) he found that she was telling the truth. He then he went to the Prophet (saw) and he ordered him to pay Fifty/Half of a Dinar as charity.

Footnote: Narrated from Ishaq with a Hasan (Reliable) chain.

10) A'isha forces something into the mouth of the Holy Prophet (saww):

Narrated A'isha:

We poured medicine in one side of the Prophet's mouth during his illness and he started pointing to us, meaning to say, "Don't pour medicine in my mouth." We said, "(He says so) because a patient dislikes medicines." When he improved and felt a little better, he said, "Didn't I forbid you to pour medicine in my mouth ?" We said, " ( We thought it was because of) the dislike, patients have for medicines. He said, "Let everyone present in the house be given medicine by pouring it in his mouth while I am looking at him, except `Abbas as he has not witnessed you (doing the same to me).

11) Umar testifies that A'isha and Hafsa backed each other against the Prophet (saww):

Narrated Ibn Abbas:

I intended to ask Umar so I said, "Who were those two ladies who tried to back each other against the Prophet?" I hardly finished my speech when he said, They were `Aisha and Hafsa."

Note: The above narrations are talking with reference to the following verse of the Holy Quran:

"When the Prophet disclosed a matter in confidence to one of his consorts, and she then divulged it (to another), and Allah made it known to him, he confirmed part thereof and repudiated a part. Then when he told her thereof, she said, "Who told thee this? "He said, "He told me Who knows and is well-acquainted (with all things)." (66:3)

12) Abu Bakr cannot convey Islamic matters (tableegh) on behalf of the Prophet (saww):

Narrated Anas bin Malik:

"The Prophet (S) sent Abu Bakr with the (announcement of) Bara'ah (the declaration to publicize the disavowal of the idolaters). Then he summoned him and said: 'It is not right for anyone to convey this except a man among my family.'

So he called for 'Ali and gave it to him."

13) Door of Fatema Zahra (sa) and verse of Purification 33:33

Narrated Anas bin Malik:

"For six months, the Messenger of Allah (S) would pass by the door of Fatimah when going to the Fajr prayer saying: 'As-Salat O People of the house! Allah only wishes to remove the Rijs from you, O members of the family, and to purify you with thorough purification (33:33).'"

14) Most of the Companions turned apostate after the Prophet (saww):

Narrated Abu Huraira:

The Prophet (s) said, "While I was sleeping, a group (of my followers were brought close to me), and when I recognized them, a man (an angel) came out from among-st (us) me and them, he said (to them), 'Come along.' I asked, 'Where?' He said, 'To the (Hell) Fire, by Allah' I asked, 'what is wrong with them' He said, 'They turned apostate as renegades after you left.' Then behold! (Another) group (of my followers) were brought close to me, and when I recognized them, a man (an angel) came out from (me and them) he said (to them); Come along.' I asked, "Where?' He said, 'To the (Hell) Fire, by Allah.' I asked, What is wrong with them?' He said, 'They turned apostate as renegades after you left. So I did not see anyone of them escaping except a few who were like camels without a shepherd."

15) Umar speaks truth about Khilafah of Abu Bakr and Imam Ali (as) opposition to it:

(Abdur Rahman bin Auf says that a man came to Umar and said) "What do you think about so-and-so who says, 'If Umar should die, I will give the pledge of allegiance to such-and such person, as by Allah, the pledge of allegiance to Abu Bakr was nothing but a prompt sudden action which got established afterwards."

(Umar says) "One should not deceive oneself by saying that the pledge of allegiance given to Abu Bakr was given suddenly and it was successful. No doubt, it was like that, but Allah saved (the people) from its evil"

"And no doubt after the death of the Prophet (S) we were informed that the Ansar disagreed with us and gathered in the shed of Bani Sa'da. Ali and Zubair and whoever was with them, opposed us, while the emigrants gathered with Abu Bakr"

    • Saheeh al-Bukhari, Book 86, Hadith 57 - Online Link (part of a lengthy narration)

16) Abu Bakr did not act as per the Prophet (saww) in the matter of Khilafah:

Salim bin 'Abdullah narrated from his father who said:

"It was said to 'Umar bin Al-Khattab: 'Perhaps you should endorse your successor.' He said: 'If I appoint a successor, then indeed Abu Bakr appointed a successor. And if I do not appoint a successor, the Messenger of Allah(s.a.w) did not appoint a successor."

18) Ali (as) and al-Abbad wanted to make Abu Bakr aware of his oppression in matter of Fadak:

The famous scholar of the Ahle Sunnah - Ibn Qutaybah says:

A man asked him(i.e. asked Ibn Qutaybah): "O Aba Mohammad, do you know that Ali disputed with Abbas about Fadak to Abu Bakr?" he said: "Yes" the man said: "which one of the two was the oppressor?" he said: "neither of them was an oppressor." the man said: "Subhanallah! how could this be?" he said: "they both were like the two angels who disputed to Dawood(a.s) (38:21-24), none of them was an oppressor, they both(i.e. the two angels) wanted to make him(i.e. Dawood a.s) realize his mistake and oppression, likewise these two (Ali & Abbas) wanted to make Abu Bakr know his mistake and oppression."
