Chapter: 18, Verse: 101 - Those blind towards Wilayat of Imam Ali (asws):

حدثنا تميم بن عبد الله بن تميم القرشي (ره) بفرغانة، قال: حدثنا أبي، عن أحمد بن علي الأنصاري، عن عبد السلام بن صالح الهروي، قال: سأل المأمون الرضا عليه السلام عن قول الله عز وجل: ﴿الذين كانت أعينهم في غطاء عن ذكري وكانوا لا يستطيعون سمعا﴾ فقال عليه السلام: إن غطاء العين لا يمنع من الذكر، و الذكر لا يرى بالعيون، ولكن الله عز وجل شبه الكافرين بولاية علي بن أبي طالب عليه السلام بالعميان لأنهم كانوا يستثقلون قول النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم فيه ولا يستطيعون سمعا، فقال المأمون: فرجت عني فرج الله عنك

Narrated that al-Mamun asked Imam al-Ridha (عليه السلام) about the saying of Allah (عز وحل), "They whose eyes were under a cover from My reminder and they could not even hear" (18:101)

The Imam (عليه السلام) said, "A cover in front of the eyes will not prevent one from remembering. And Allah's remembrance is not seen by the eyes. However Allah (عز وجل) has compared those who reject (kafara) the Mastership (Wilayah) of Ali ibn Abi Talib (عليه السلام) with the blind, since the words of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله) (regarding Wilayah of Imam Ali ع) were hard for them to bear and they did not have the capacity to listen to it."

Then al-Mamun said, "You have relieved me. May Allah grant you relieve."

حدثنا جعفر بن احمد عن عبيدالله (عبدالله ط) بن موسى عن الحسن (بن حمزة ط) بن علي بن ابي حمزة عن ابيه والحسين (الحسن ط) بن ابي العلا وعبدالله بن وضاح وشعيب العقرقوفي جميعهم عن ابي بصير عن ابي عبدالله (عليه السلام) في قوله: " الذين كانت اعينهم في غطاء عن ذكري " قال: يعني بالذكر ولاية علي (عليه السلام) وهو قوله ذكري، قلت قوله " لا يستطيعون سمعا " قال: كانوا لا يستطيعون إذا ذكر علي (عليه السلام) عندهم ان يسمعوا ذكره لشدة بغض له وعداوة منهم له ولاهل بيته

Narrated from Aba Abdillah Imam Sadiq (عليه السلام) about the saying of Allah, "They whose eyes were under a cover from My reminder and they could not even hear" (18:101)

Imam (عليه السلام) said, "By remembrance (Zekr) it means Wilayat (mastership) of Imam Ali (عليه السلام). And that is the saying of Allah - 'My Remembrance'."

I (narrator) said, And about saying of Allah (swt), "They could not even hear". (18:101)

The Imam (عليه السلام) said, "When Imam Ali (عليه السلام) was mentioned in front of them, they did not have the capacity to listen to it due to the extreme hatred & enmity for Him and His family."

Chapter: 18, Verse: 101 - No Shirk in Khilafat

عن سماعة بن مهران قال: سألت ابا عبد الله (الصادق ع) عن قول الله: {فليعمل عملاً صالحاً ولا يشرك بعبادة ربه أحداً} قال: العمل الصالح المعرفة بالائمة, {ولا يشرك بعبادة ربه أحداً} التسليم لعلي, لا يشرك معه في الخلافة من ليس ذلك له ولا هو من أهله.

Narrated from Abu Abd-Allah Imam Sadiq (عليه السلام) about the saying of Allah:

"So he should do good deeds and not associate anyone in the worship of his Lord (8:110) 

The Imam said: 'The good deed' - is having recognition [Marefat] of the Imams. 

'And do not associate anyone in the worship of his Lord' - is submission to Ali (عليه السلام), not associating along with him in the caliphate [khilfat] any one to whom it does not belong and who is not worthy of it.
