19 - Maryam

Chapter: 19, Verse: 50: - Name of Imam Ali (ع) in the Quran

Narrated that Abu Abdillah Imam Sadiq (عليه السلام) said as part of a lenghty narration:

Allah (جل ذكره) said, "So when he withdrew from them and what they worshipped besides Allah, We gave to him Ishaq and Yaqoob, and each one of them We made a Prophet. And We granted to them of Our mercy, and We made for them a truthful toungue which is lofty (Ali)." (19:48-50)

That is through Ali Ibne Abi Talib (عليه السلام). Because Ibrahim (عليه السلام) had prayed to Allah (عز و جل), that He should appoint for Him a truthful tongue in the later generation, therefore the Almighty Allah (تبارك و تعالى) made Ali (عليه السلام) the truthful tongue for for Him and for Ishaq and Yaqoob.

Thus Ali (عليه السلام) informed that the Qaim (عليه السلام) shall be his eleventh descendant and that He is the Mahdi who would fill the earth with justice and equity just as it would have been filled up with injustice and oppression. And also that there shall be an occultation & confusion for Him in which some groups would go astray and while some shall be guided. And this will indeed come to pass just as he has been created."

Narrated that Yunus bin Abad al-Rahman said to Abu al-Hasan Imam Ridha (عليه السلام):

"People asked me about the name of Amir al-Momineen in the book of Allah (عز و جل), so I told them it’s in the saying of Allah: "And we made for them a truthful tongue which is lofty (Ali)" (19:50)

Imam Ridha (عليه السلام) said, "You have said the truth, it is like this"

Narrated from Abu Abdillah Imam Sadiq (ع) regarding the saying of Allah, "Indeed those who believed and did good deeds, the Most Gracious (Allah) will bestow love/affection for them" (19:96)

Imam (ع) said, "The verse was revealed from Imam Ali (ع), there is no believer but in his heart is love for Imam Ali (ع)."
