قَالَ وَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنِ النَّضْرِ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع‌ فِي قَوْلِهِ‌ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ‌ قَالَ الشُّكْرُ لِلَّهِ- فِي قَوْلِهِ‌ رَبِّ الْعالَمِينَ‌ قَالَ خَلَقَ الْمَخْلُوقِينَ‌ الرَّحْمنِ‌ بِجَمِيعِ خَلْقِهِ‌ الرَّحِيمِ‌ بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ خَاصَّةً مالِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ‌ قَالَ يَوْمِ الْحِسَابِ وَ الدَّلِيلُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ قَوْلُهُ‌ وَ قالُوا يا وَيْلَنا هذا يَوْمُ الدِّينِ‌ يَعْنِي يَوْمَ الْحِسَابِ (إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ) مُخَاطَبَةُ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ (وَ إِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ‌) مِثْلُهُ (اهْدِنَا الصِّراطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ‌) قَالَ الطَّرِيقَ وَ مَعْرِفَةَ الْإِمَامِ‌

Narrated from Abu Abd-Allah Imam Sadiq (عليه السلام), about the saying of Allah:

"الحمد لله" (Praise be to Allah), The Imam said: "[It means] Gratitude to Allah."

Regarding His saying "رب العالمين" (Lord of the worlds), The Imam said: "[He] created the creatures."

"الرحمن" (The Beneficent), The Imam said: "Towards all of His creation."

"الرحيم " (The Merciful), The Imam said: "Towards the believers specifically."

"مالك يوم الدين" (Master of the Day of Judgment), The Imam said: "[It is] the Day of Reckoning. And the proof of that is His saying [in the Quran]: 'And they said: O woe to us! This is the Day of Judgement [al-Din],' meaning the Day of Reckoning."

"اياك نعبد" (You do we worship), The Imam said, "This is addressing Allah (عز وجل)"

"واياك نستعين" (And You do we ask for help), The Imam said, "similar to it [i.e. Addressing Allah]"

"اهدنا الصراط المستقيم" (Guide us to the straight path), The Imam said: "[It is] the way, and it is the recognition [Marifat] of the Imam."

قَالَ وَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ حَمَّادٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع‌ فِي قَوْلِهِ‌ الصِّراطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ‌ قَالَ هُوَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع وَ مَعْرِفَتُهُ- وَ الدَّلِيلُ عَلَى أَنَّهُ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ‌ قَوْلُهُ‌ وَ إِنَّهُ فِي أُمِّ الْكِتابِ لَدَيْنا لَعَلِيٌّ حَكِيمٌ‌ وَ هُوَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع فِي أُمِّ الْكِتَابِ‌

Narrated from Abu Abd-Allah Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq (عليه السلام):

Regarding His saying "الصراط المستقيم" (The Straight Path), The Imam said: "It is Amir al-Mu'minin (عليه السلام) and the recognition [Marifat] of him. And the proof that it is Amir al-Mu'minin (عليه السلام) is the verse: "And verily, he is in the Mother of the Book, with Us, Ali [exalted], Wise" [43:4]. And he is Amir al-Mu'minin (عليه السلام) in the Mother of the Book.
