Chapter: 10, Verse: 53 - Imam Ali (ع) the Truth

حَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ: عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْجَوْهَرِيِّ، عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِنَا، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ)، فِي قَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى: وَ يَسْتَنْبِئُونَكَ أَ حَقٌّ هُوَ، قَالَ: «مَا تَقُولُ فِي عَلِيٍّ؟ قُلْ إِي وَ رَبِّي إِنَّهُ لَحَقٌّ وَ ما أَنْتُمْ بِمُعْجِزِينَ

Narrated from Abu Abdullah Imam Sadiq (ع) about the saying of Allah (تعالى), "And they ask You (O Mohammad ص), Is it True?" (10:53)

Imam (ع) said, "(it means) what You (O Mohammad ص) say about Ali (ع)"

"Say, "Yes, by my Lord. Indeed, it is truth; and you will not cause failure [to Allah]" (10:53)

Chapter: 10, Verse: 58 -The Grace/Favour & Mercy of Allah

مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ: عَنْ عِدَّةٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا، عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْفُضَيْلِ، عَنِ الرِّضَا (عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ)، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: قُلْ بِفَضْلِ اللَّهِ وَ بِرَحْمَتِهِ فَبِذلِكَ فَلْيَفْرَحُوا هُوَ خَيْرٌ مِمَّا يَجْمَعُونَ؟ قَالَ: بِوَلَايَةِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ (عَلَيْهِمُ السَّلَامُ) هُوَ خَيْرٌ مِمَّا يَجْمَعُ هَؤُلَاءِ مِنْ دُنْيَاهُمْ

Narrated that Muhammad bin al-Fudayl asked Imam al-Rida (عليه السلام) about the verse,

"Say: In the Favour of Allah and in His Mercy - so in that they should rejoice; it is better than that which they gather." (10:58)

Imam (عليه السلام) said, "It means - By the Mastership (Wilayat) of Muhammad & Aal-e-Muhammd (عليهم السلام), it is better than what these people gather in their world."

عَنْ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ)، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: قُلْ بِفَضْلِ اللَّهِ وَ بِرَحْمَتِهِ فَبِذلِكَ فَلْيَفْرَحُوا هُوَ خَيْرٌ مِمَّا يَجْمَعُونَ؟ قَالَ: «الْإِقْرَارُ بِنُبُوَّةِ مُحَمَّدٍ (عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ السَّلَامُ) وَ الِائْتِمَامُ بِأَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ) هُوَ خَيْرٌ مِمَّا يَجْمَعُ هَؤُلَاءِ فِي دُنْيَاهُمْ».

Narrated that Abu Hamzah asked Abu Jafar Imam Baqir (عليه السلام) about the verse,

"Say: In the Favour of Allah and in His Mercy - so in that they should rejoice; it is better than that which they gather." (10:58)

Imam (عليه السلام) said, "It means - Acknowledgement of the Prophet-hood of Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وآله) & the accepting the Imamat (following) of Amir al-Momineen (عليهم السلام), it is better than what these people gather in their world."

Part of long hadith as narrated from Imam Baqir (عليه السلام) that Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وآله) said to Imam Ali (عليه السلام):

وَ إِنَّ فَضْلَكَ لَمِنْ فَضْلِي، وَ إِنَّ فَضْلِي «٢» لَفَضْلُ اللَّهِ، وَ هُوَ قَوْلُ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ: قُلْ بِفَضْلِ اللَّهِ وَ بِرَحْمَتِهِ فَبِذلِكَ فَلْيَفْرَحُوا هُوَ خَيْرٌ مِمَّا يَجْمَعُونَ فَفَضْلُ اللَّهِ نُبُوَّةُ نَبِيِّكُمْ، وَ رَحْمَتُهُ وَلَايَةُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ فَبِذلِكَ قَالَ: بِالنُّبُوَّةِ وَ الْوَلَايَةِ فَلْيَفْرَحُوا يَعْنِي الشِّيعَةَ هُوَ خَيْرٌ مِمَّا يَجْمَعُونَ يَعْنِي مُخَالِفِيهِمْ، مِنَ الْأَهْلِ وَ الْمَالِ وَ الْوَلَدِ فِي دَارِ الدُّنْيَا

"And surely Your merit/superiority (Fadl) is from My superiority and My superiority is from Allah's superiority. And that is the saying of Allah, "Say: In the Favour of Allah and in His Mercy - so in that they should rejoice; it is better than that which they gather." (10:58)

(explaining the above verse Imam said)

"So the grace/favour (fadl) of Allah is the Prophet-hood of Your Prophet and His mercy (RaHmat) is the Mastership (Wilayat) of Ali ibn Abi Talib (عليه السلام).

'So in that' - it means that with the Prophet-hood and Mastership (Wilayat).

'they should rejoice' - it means that the Shia should rejoice.

'It is better than that which they gather' - it means those who oppose them (mukhalif), gather from the family, the money and the children in the life of the world.
