Chapter: 56, Verse 88-92 - Those having a position near the Imams (as)

 حدثنا الحسن بن علي بن شعيب الجوهري (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا عيسى بن محمد العلوي، قال: حدثنا الحسين بن الحسن الحيري بالكوفة، قال: حدثنا الحسن بن الحسين  العرني، عن عمرو بن جميع، عن [ عمرو بن ] أبي المقدام، قال: قال الصادق (عليه السلام) جعفر بن محمد (عليهما السلام): نزلت هاتان الآيتان في أهل ولايتنا وأهل عداوتنا (فأما إن كان من المقربين * فروح وريحان) يعني في قبره (وجنت نعيم) يعني في الآخرة (وأما إن كان من المكذبين الضالين * فنزل من حميم) يعني في قبره (وتصلية جحيم) يعني في الآخرة

Narrated that Imam Jafar bin Muhammad al-Sadiq (عليه السلام) said,

These two verses were revealed concerning the people of our Wilayah (those who swear allegiance to us) and our enemies:

'Then, if he is of those brought near [to Allah], then [for him is] rest/happiness and satisfaction' (56:88-89) — meaning in his grave — 'and a Garden of bliss’ — meaning in the Hereafter.

'But if he is of the deniers, the straying ones, then [for him is] a hospitality of boiling water' (56:92-93) — meaning in his grave — 'and burning in Hellfire' (56:94) — meaning in the Hereafter."

عَنْهُ: عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى، عَنْ يُونُسَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ فُضَيْلٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حُمْرَانَ ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِأَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ): فَقَوْلُهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ: فَأَمَّا إِنْ كانَ مِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ؟ قَالَ: «ذَلِكَ مَنْ [كَانَتْ لَهُ] مَنْزِلَةٌ عِنْدَ الْإِمَامِ قُلْتُ: وَ أَمَّا إِنْ كانَ مِنْ أَصْحابِ الْيَمِينِ؟ قَالَ: «ذَلِكَ مَنْ وُصِفَ بِهَذَا الْأَمْرِ» قُلْتُ: وَ أَمَّا إِنْ كانَ مِنَ الْمُكَذِّبِينَ الضَّالِّينَ؟ قَالَ: الْجَاحِدِينَ لِلْإِمَامِ

Narrated that Abu Jafar Imam Baqir (ع) was asked about the saying of Allah (عز و جل), "Then, if he is of those Nearest ones" (56:88)

Imam (ع) said, "That is the one who has a status/rank near the Imam (ع)."

I (the narrator) asked, "And if he is of the companions of the right hand" (56:90)

Imam (ع) said, "That is the one who is attributed to this matter (Amr) (i.e. the one who accepts the Wilayah)"

I (the narrator) asked, "And if he is one of the rejecters, the erring ones" (56:92)

Imam (ع) said, "Those who reject the Imam (ع)"
