006: Al-An'aam

Chapter: 6, Verse: 44 - Leaving Wilayat 

عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ،قَالَ:حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ،قَالَ:حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْكَرِيمِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ،عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ،عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْفُضَيْلِ،عَنْ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ،قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ(عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ) عَنْ قَوْلِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى: فَلَمّٰا نَسُوا مٰا ذُكِّرُوا بِهِ فَتَحْنٰا عَلَيْهِمْ أَبْوٰابَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ . قَالَ: أَمَّا قَوْلُهُ: فَلَمّٰا نَسُوا مٰا ذُكِّرُوا بِهِ يَعْنِي فَلَمَّا تَرَكُوا وَلاَيَةَ عَلِيٍّ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ) وَ قَدْ أُمِرُوا بِهَا فَتَحْنٰا عَلَيْهِمْ أَبْوٰابَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ يَعْنِي دَوْلَتَهُمْ فِي الدُّنْيَا،وَ مَا بُسِطَ لَهُمْ فِيهَا وَ أَمَّا قَوْلُهُ: حَتّٰى إِذٰا فَرِحُوا بِمٰا أُوتُوا أَخَذْنٰاهُمْ بَغْتَةً فَإِذٰا هُمْ مُبْلِسُونَ يَعْنِي بِذَلِكَ قِيَامَ الْقَائِمِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ)، حَتَّى كَأَنَّهُمْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُمْ سُلْطَانٌ قَطُّ،فَذَلِكَ قَوْلُهُ بَغْتَةً فَنَزَلَتْ بِخَبَرِهِ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِه

Narrated by Abu Hamzah who said, I asked Abu Jafar Imam Baqir (عليه السلام) about the saying of Allah, "So when they neglected/forgot that with which they had been admonished/reminded with, We opened for them the doors of all things." (6:44).

Imam (عليه السلام) said, As for Allah's words, "But when they neglected that which they had been admonished/reminded with" - meaning when they left the Wilayah of Amir al-Momineen (عليه السلام) about which they were commanded. 

And as for Allah's words, "We opened for them the doors of all things" (6:44) - meaning their rulership in the world and what was granted to them in this world. 

And as for Allah's words, "Until when they enjoyed in what they were given We seized them suddenly; then they were in utter despair. (6:44) - meaning of that is the rise of al-Qaim (عجل الله تعالى فرجه), such that it will be as if they never had any authority/rule/reign.

الْعَيَّاشِيُّ: عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ (عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَامُ): «أَنَّ قَنْبَراً مَوْلَى أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ) أُدْخِلَ عَلَى الْحَجَّاجِ بْنِ يُوسُفَ، فَقَالَ لَهُ: مَا الَّذِي كُنْتَ تَلِي مِنْ أَمْرِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ؟ قَالَ: كُنْتُ أُوَضِّئُهُ. فَقَالَ لَهُ: مَا كَانَ يَقُولُ إِذَا فَرَغَ مِنْ وُضُوئِهِ؟ قَالَ: كَانَ يَتْلُو هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ فَلَمَّا نَسُوا ما ذُكِّرُوا بِهِ فَتَحْنا عَلَيْهِمْ أَبْوابَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ حَتَّى إِذا فَرِحُوا بِما أُوتُوا أَخَذْناهُمْ بَغْتَةً فَإِذا هُمْ مُبْلِسُونَ* فَقُطِعَ دابِرُ الْقَوْمِ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعالَمِينَ. فَقَالَ الْحَجَّاجُ: كَانَ يَتَأَوَّلُهَا عَلَيْنَا؟ فَقَالَ: نَعَمْ. فَقَالَ: مَا أَنْتَ صَانِعٌ إِذَا ضَرَبْتُ عِلَاوَتَكَ «٥»؟ قَالَ: إِذَنْ أَسْعَدَ وَ تَشْقَى. فَأَمَرَ بِهِ فَقَتَلَهُ

Narrated that Abu al-Hasan Ali ibn Muhammad (عليهما السلام) said,

"Qanbar the slave of Amir al-Momineen (عليه السلام) was taken to al-Hajjaj bin Yusuf."

al-Hajjaj asked him, "What did you do for Ali ibn Abi Talib (عليه السلام)?" 

Qanbar said, "I arranged for His Wudu." 

al-Hajjaj said, "What did He (i.e. Imam Ali (عليه السلام) say after His wudu?"

Qanbar said, "After Wudu the Imam would recite, "So when they neglected/forgot that with which they had been admonished/reminded with, We opened for them the doors of all things. When they rejoiced in what they were given, we seized them suddenly, then lo! they were in utter despair. So the roots of the people who were unjust were cut off and all praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the worlds" (6:44-45)

al-Hajjaj said, "Did he interpret these verses upon us?."

Qanbar said, "Yes." 

al-Hajjaj said, "What would you do if I cut your head off?" 

Qanbar said, "So I will be fortunate and you will be unfortunate." 

Then, al-Hajjaj ordered and killed him."

Chapter: 6, Verse: 59 - All wet and dry is in a manifest book

محمد بن يحيى عن أحم دبن محمد بن عيسى، عن محمد بن خالد، والحسين بن سعيد جميعا، عن النضر بن سويد، عن يحيى الحلبي، عن عبدالله بن مسكان، عن زيد بن الوليد الخثعمي، عن أبي الربيع الشامي قال: سألت أبا عبدالله عن قول الله عزوجل: وما تسقط من ورقة إلا يعلمها ولا حبة في ظلمات الارض ولا رطب ولا يابس إلا في كتاب مبين قال: فقال الورقة السقط والحبة الولد وظلمات الارض الارحام والرطب ما يحيا من الناس واليابس ما يقبض و كل ذلك في إمام مبين

Mohammad bin Yahya, from Ahmad bin Mohammad bin Isa, from Mohammad bin Khalid and al-Husain bin Saeed together, from al-Nazr bin Suweyd, from Yahya al-Halabi, from Abdullah bin Maskan, from Zaid bin al-Waleed al-Khashmee, from Abi al-Rabi al-Shami who said:

I asked Aba Abdillah Imam Sadiq (as) about the saying of Allah (swt), "And there falls not a leaf but He knows it, nor a grain in the darkness of the earth, nor anything wet nor dry but (it is all) in a clear book" (6:59)

Imam (as) said, "The fallen leaf (is the miscarried child) and the grain is the child, and the darkness of the earth is the womb, and the wet is who lives from the people, and the dry is who has been Captured (died), and all of that is in the Manifest Imam.

Chapter: 6, Verse: 75 - Imam's (as) seeing heavens and the earth

وَكَذَٰلِكَ نُرِي إِبْرَاهِيمَ مَلَكُوتَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَلِيَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُوقِنِينَ 

"So also did We show Abraham the power and the laws of the heavens and the earth, that he might (with understanding) have certitude." (6:75)

حدثنا محمد عن عبدالله بن محمد بن حجال عن ثلعبة عن عبدالرحيم عن ابى جعفر عليه السلام في هذه الاية وكذلك نرى ابراهيم ملكوت السموات والارضوليكون من الموقنين قال كشط له عن الارض حتى رأها ومن فيها وعن السماء حتى رأها ومن فيها والملك الذى يحملها والعرش ومن عليه وكذلك ارى صاحبكم

Narrated to me Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Hajjal, from Salabah, from Abd Al-Rahman from Aba Jafar (as) regarding this verse: 

"So also did We show Abraham the power and the laws of the heavens and the earth, that he might (with understanding) have certitude." (6:75)

He (as) said, “The earth was opened for him [Ibraheem (as)] until he saw it and saw what was in it and was opened for him the sky until he saw it and what was in it and saw the Angel who was carrying it and saw the throne (Arsh) and what was on it and the same is for your Master [Imam (as)].”

Chapter: 6, Verse: 82 - Mixing belief (Eeman) with Injustice (Zulm)!!

محمد بن يحيى، عن أحمد بن أبي زاهر، عن الحسن بن موسى الخشاب، عن علي بن حسان، عن عبدالرحمن بن كثير، عن أبي عبدالله عليه السلام في قول الله عز و جل: " [و] الذين آمنوا ولم يلبسوا إيمانهم بظلم" قال بما جاء به محمد صلى الله عليه وآله من الولاية ولم يخلطوها بولاية فلان وفلان، فهو الملبس بالظلم

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from abu Zahir from al-Hassan ibn Musa al-Khashshab from Ali ibn Hassa’n from Abd al-Rahman ibn Kathir from Abi Abdillah Imam Sadiq (as) who has said the following:

"About the words of Allah (swt), "Those who have accepted the faith and have not mixed it with injustice, have achieved security and guidance." (6:82)

Imam said, "It (faith/eeman) refers to belief in all that Prophet Muhammad (saww) has brought from Allah about Wilayah, and has not mixed it with the Wilayah of so (Abu Bakr) and so (Umar), that is mixed with injustice."

Chapter: 6, Verse: 129 - Revenge from the oppressors

عنه، عن محمد بن عيسى، عن إبراهيم بن عبد الحميد، عن علي بن أبي حمزة عن أبي بصير، عن أبي جعفر (عليه السلام) قال: قال: ما انتصر الله من ظالم إلا بظالم، وذلك قوله عز وجل: " وكذلك نولي بعض الظالمين بعضا

Narrated from Abu Jafar Imam Baqir (عليه السلام):

"Allah does not take revenge of an unjust/oppressor (zalim) but through another unjust/oppressor. And that is the saying of Allah, ''Thus We let some of the unjust have power over others." (6:129)

Chapter: 6, Verse: 158 - The signs of Allah

ابْنُ بَابَوَيْهِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي (رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ)، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ أَبِي الْخَطَّابِ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ رِئَابٍ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ)، أَنَّهُ قَالَ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ: يَوْمَ يَأْتِي بَعْضُ آياتِ رَبِّكَ لا يَنْفَعُ نَفْساً إِيمانُها لَمْ تَكُنْ آمَنَتْ مِنْ قَبْلُ

فَقَالَ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ): الْآيَاتُ: الْأَئِمَّةُ، وَ الْآيَةُ الْمُنْتَظَرَةُ: الْقَائِمُ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ)، فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَا يَنْفَعُ نَفْساً إِيمَانُهَا لَمْ تَكُنْ آمَنَتْ مِنْ قَبْلِ قِيَامِهِ بِالسَّيْفِ، وَ إِنْ آمَنَتْ بِمَنْ تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ آبَائِهِ (عَلَيْهِمُ السَّلَامُ)

Narrated from Abu Abd-Allah Imam Sadiq (عليه السلام) about the saying of Allah (عز وجل),

"The Day that some of the signs of your Lord will come no soul will benefit from its faith as long as it had not believed before." (6:158)

Imam (عليه السلام) said, "The Signs (aayat)" refers to the Imams (عليهم السلام) and "The Awaited Sign" is al-Qaim (عليه السلام). So on that day, no one will benefit from his faith if he did not believe (in the Imam) before the rising of the Imam with the sword, even if the person had believed in his forefathers (i.e. the previous Imams عليهم السلام)."

Chapter: 6, Verse: 160 - One good equals to 10 good !!!

علي بن إبراهيم، قال: حدثنا محمد بن سلمة، قال: حدثنا محمد بن جعفر، عن يحيى بن زكريا اللؤلؤي، عن علي بن حسان، عن عبد الرحمن بن كثير، عن أبي عبد الله (عليه السلام) ، في قوله: مَنْ جاءَ بِالْحَسَنَةِ فَلَهُ عَشْرُ أَمْثالِها (١) ، قال: «هي للمسلمين عامة، والحسنة الولاية، فمن عمل من حسنة كتبت له عشر، فإن لم تكن له ولاية، دفع عنه بما عمل من حسنة في الدنيا، وما له في الآخرة من خلاق

Narrated from Abu Abdillah Imam Sadiq (asws):

About the saying of Allah (swt), "Whoever brings a good deed, he shall have ten like it" (6:160).

Imam (asws) said, "This verse is for all the muslims and the 'Good' refers to Wilayat. So whoever does any good deed, 10 good deeds will be written for him. And if he does not have Wilayat with him, then he will be saved (from harm) due to the good deeds in this world and in the hearafter he will not have any share in it"

وروى يونس عن صباح بن صبيح عن زرارة عن أبي عبد الله (عليه السلام) في قول الله عزوجل: (من جاء بالحسنة فله عشر أمثالها) قال: من ذكرهما (فلانا وفلانا) فلعنهما كل غداة كتب الله له - عز وجل - سبعين حسنة، ومحا عنه عشر سيئات، ورفع له عشر درجات

Narrated Yunis bin Sabbah bin Sabeh from Zurarah from Abi Abdillah al-Sadiq (as) about the saying of Allah (swt), "Whoever comes with one good, from him is 10 times similar to it" (6:160).

Imam Sadiq (as) said, "Whoever mentions those 2 (Fulan and Fulan i.e. Abu Bakr and Umar) and then send Laanat upon them every morning Allah (swt) will write for him 70 good deeds and will wipe his 10 sins and will raise him by 10 ranks."
