91: Ash Shams
A group, from Sahl Bin Ziyad, from Muhammad, from his father, from Abu Muhammad has narrated:
Abu Abdullah(as) having said when asked about the Statement of Allah:
“I swear by the sun and its brilliance” [91:1]
Imam(as) said: The sun (is a reference to) the Messenger of Allah by whom Allah Mighty and Majestic Clarified for the people their Religion.
I then asked, (What about) “And the moon when it follows the sun” [91:2]
Imam(as) said: That is Amir-ul-Momineen(as) following the Messengers of Allah, and emitted the knowledge by re-radiating (like moon reflects the rays to the earth which fall on its surface from the sun).
I then asked, (What about) “And the night when it draws a veil over it” [91:4]
Imam(as) said: That (is a reference to) the imams of the injustice who tyrannised by the command the Progeny of the Messenger and seated themselves upon a set which was for the Progeny of the Messenger who were higher (more deserving) for it than them. They veiled the Religion of Allah by the injustices and the tyranny. So Allah has Referred to their deeds by Saying “ And the night when it draws a veil over it”.
I then asked, (What about) “By the Day as it shows up (the Sun's) clarity” [91:3]
Imam(as) said: That (is a reference to) the Imams from the descendants of Fatima(sa), when asked about the Religion of the Messenger of Allah so they clarify it for the one who has asked (from them). So Allah has referred it in His Statement by Saying “By the Day as it shows up (the Sun's) clarity”.
